Biography: M Ryan Taylor graduated from the Vocal Performance program at Brigham Young University with a Bachelor or Music degree where he attended on full scholarship. He has sung roles in operas ranging from "Cosi Fan Tutte" and "The Merry Wives of Windsor" to "Tartuffe" and "Amahl in the Night Visitors."
Taylor also received a Masters degree in Music Composition and performed in his own operas, "Abinadi" as King Noah when it was produced by BYU in 2003 and "The Other Wise Man" as Abgarus which was self-produced in 2006-7. He is currently the chair of The Salty Cricket Composer Collective which features the music of Utah-based composers in concerts held three time a year. He is an Opera America conference scholarship recipient for his work in writing opera and organizing operatic events like the 2007 Opera in a Month Composition Contest through VocalWorks.org.
Taylor has also performed in concerts with the Utah Premiere Brass, Timpanogos Chorale and many other Utah & California performing organizations. He performs for groups large and small, from the Tabernacle in Provo to Temple Square in Salt Lake and has been the guest for festivals like Colonial Days as part of Provo's Freedom Festival to the Utah State Fair. He also performs for small gatherings in yard/home concerts and salons.
Taylor has released four CDs, the latest is a celebration of the American dream, entitled "American Revolutions" and is now available on VocalWorks.org. In 2005 he released three children's albums available at SongTonic.com. Of these, "Thirteen for Halloween" has been a best seller on SongsForTeaching.com and has its own dedicated site, with games, music, recipes and more at ThirteenForHalloween.com.
As a producer, Taylor has been active in supporting and creating many concerts along the Wasatch Front and providing opportunities for local singers to perform. Ryan also emcees for American Fork Concerts in the Park which is chaired and organized by his beloved wife Dixie.
